Happy Birthday

Saturday was Chris’ birthday. We were going to Halifax to meet the Burns who were flying in. When we got to the airport, Mason realized he didn’t have his cell phone on, when he turned it on, we had two messages from the Burns; the plane had been delayed in Charleston, they had missed their flight connection in Washington, they wouldn’t be in until Sunday morning.

So since we were planning on being in Halifax until the evening services at Journey Community Church, we decided to go ahead and spend the rest of the day there . We went for Chris’ favorite food, Chinese buffet. It was a very nice restaurant with a wide range of different kinds of food, we both enjoyed it.

Afterward we walked around the part of Halifax we hadn’t seen last year. We were around the waterfront when we heard music, we came upon an Indian, (from India) wedding party. This was the celebration. They had been married the day before. It was interesting, some of the guest told us what was going on, it seemed to be all about the groom. He was on a beautiful horse and people were giving him money. They were clapping and singing, it was very colorful, everyone was in traditional wedding costume. Then the men pulled the groom off the horse, and they went up on an outdoor balconey at the hotel and beautiful white lei’s were put on the father of the bride and groom and then on the groom. After these were placed around their necks they sterted hugging in what looked like they were having a wrestling match. We thought it looked like a WW smack-down , not sure what that was about. We never did see the bride, we assume she was inside.

Later we rode around the Dartmouth area, then headed out to Enfield, where Journey is located. The team from Spartanburg had just gotten in. They had to have a lay over in Bangor Me. because of the lady that had the accident. Keep her. Betty in prayer, she broke her pelvis, and will have to stay there until they get back.

We had a very nice evening, enjoyed the fellowship, the music by the Journey Praise Team and the message that Paul McKee from Spartanbury brought. We also saw the Burnetts who are Mission Service Corps Volunteers serving in Turo. Bill knows Randy Sorrow and one of Randy’s Sons. He is looking forward to seeing Randy next week.

SUNDAY:
We went to Grace Community Church. Afterward we went for lunch in the Hotel area. It was good we did. Randy called, they had gotten in, now they couldn’t get their car, they had a debit/credit card and they do not take our debit cards up here. So Pastor Harvey helped them out and he had to fax papers back and forth which he was able to do at the hotel. If we had gone we would not have had access to a fax. Their luggage also did not arrive. God must have something good planned for them, Satan has sure tried to put up roadblocks.

Sunday afternoon we had our first service at the Oddfellows Retirement Home. We were glad to be able to minister to the folks there, and pray that over the next few weeks more will come. We had about 15 there and also an answer to prayer, one of the volunteers played the piano.

Sunday evening we went to Munroe Avenue Baptist Church in New Glasgow. This is a sweet church and they are praying for us also.
