Nova Scotia – Day One

Author: masonvt

We went over to Antigonish this morning and worshipped with Pastor Harvey Martell and his folks at Grace Community Church.  They are in their second year and running 25 – 30 each Sunday. After church we went to the Pastor’s home and had dinner with he and his wife and a couple from the church.

We spent the afternoon sharing and finding out more from them about the spiritual atmosphere of the area, particularly Pictou. The more we learn about the area, the more we realize how closed these people are to to the true meaning of a personal relationship with Jesus The people are friendly and don’t mind talking with you, but most turn off when you bring up things spiritual. The Pastor was able to give us the names of 2 ladies who go to church in New Glasgow but live in Pictou.  We will contact them and see if they know of any other believers here.

We took a walk along the shore (the Northumberland Strait) this evening and had a good conversation with a couple that were working in their yard. We shared why we were here and they seemed interested in what we had to say (a divine appointment?).  Pray for Michael and Beverly MacKenzie.

Tomorrow we’ll start exploring the town and see if we can meet some people and begin to build relationships. Keep praying for God to start touching hearts in a big way.

We made it!  We are in Pictou! Had a divine appointment this morning in Moncton. The young lady who took care of the continental breakast is a Christian, and from Pictou.  We had a good time sharing and she confirmed some of the things we know about the spiritual atmosphere here.

We are revamping the housing, for the better (more about that later). Keep praying, we’ll be getting started on Monday checking out the community.

It’s an old town with a lot of history. I’ll post some pictures as soon as i can.

We go over to Atogonish tomorrow to worship at Grace Community Church, where we’ll be doing the VBS.
